World Book Day

For our World Book Day activities studying the storybook ‘Leaf’ by Sandra Diechmann, we created warning posters for the animals of the Wild Wood about the dangerous creature who had arrived. We then made texture rubbings for leaves to create our own set of Polar Bear wings to help Leaf find his way home.

Please do ask your children about Leaf as we have all really enjoyed learning about his journey!

The Tin Forest by Helen Ward

Stepping into a world where imagination blossoms in the most unlikely of places, The Tin Forest follows a lonely old man who inhabits a bleak, metallic wasteland—a place where the wind clatters through scrap iron instead of leaves. Through this visually beautiful narrative, we will explore the powerful themes of persistence, growth and the spark of hope. We will be using what we discover in this text to explore our own environmental advocacy, creating persuasive leaflets to encourage others to protect our own natural world.
