Art and Design
Our Arts and Design curriculum at Longfields Primary School is designed to inspire every learner by capturing their interests and providing exciting, enriching experiences. It always encourages all children to become independent thinkers who ask questions, seek answers and develop a strong understanding of the creative world around them.
Our Approach to Art and Design
Art and Design at Longfields Primary School provides children with a wide range of opportunities in a creative environment. We strive to engage, facilitate and challenge our children in order to equip them with the knowledge and skills required to experiment, invent and create their own masterpieces. Through a wide range of high-quality art experiences, children have the creative freedom to try their own ideas and have opportunities to record what they see, think and feel. They learn artistic skills and techniques such as drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, printing and working with textiles. Children discover how to talk about art using the correct terminology, they learn about different artists, craft makers and designers from an array of different times and cultures. At Longfields Primary School we aim to embed our school ethos of Love to Learn by supporting our children through the journey in the subject of Art and Design.
