The Tricky Word Castles and the Tricky Word Story Spotters have been arranged into the children's phonics groups. They can use these activity sheets to recap and learn the different tricky words.

Tricky Word Activities

You can find the tricky words in different book and you can us he tricky word story spotters.

You can go on a tricky word hunt - someone needs to hide the tricky words around the house/garden (if you can) and once you find them you need to read the tricky word.

Tricky word hide and seek - put three words up and then they close their eyes. You then need to hide a word. They open their eyes and have to write down the one you’ve hidden.

The tricky words are breaking the rules because you can’t segment/bland them. You can make a wanted poster of all the tricky words as they have broken the rules.

Splat - you need to have words faced up on table. Someone will call out a word and you need to splat the word with your hand.
